Clear Safety & Compliance (Clear Safety Services Ltd) acts on behalf of some of the UK's leading housing associations and local authorities.

We organise and carry out inspections within commercial and residential properties. This ensures that they meet the required standards and if there are defects, we report the required actions so that all necessary works can be completed.

If you are a tenant, we may have contacted you on behalf of your landlord/housing association in order to arrange an inspection to ensure your safety.

Planning & Support Team

How your inspection is booked

  1. The first step is normally for the Planning & Support Team to contact you and arrange your appointment. We do this as far in advance as possible to ensure minimal disruption to you.
  2. During the initial call, we'll discuss the type of inspection and how long we expect this to take.
  3. 24 hours before your appointment you'll receive a SMS reminder confirming the estimated time our inspector is due to arrive*.

If you have questions, please contact our office and one of our team will be happy to assist.

*Please bear in mind that whilst we will do our best to get them to you at that time, factors such as traffic and issues outside of our control may impact their arrival time. We will keep you up to date if any significant, unexpected delays occur.

When our inspectors arrive

All of our inspectors should be wearing our uniform which is either a dark blue short or long-sleeved shirt and/or jumper, all displaying our company logo.

They will present their ID on arrival.

Why have I received a call from 01303 684001?

This is the main number for Clear Safety that is displayed to recipients. If you receive a call from this number it is very likely that a member of our team is looking to discuss an inspection with you.

Why do I have to have an inspection? 

We carry out inspections in many compliance disciplines including fire safety, mechanical and electrical safety, gas safety and water hygiene (Legionella).

Why do I have to have another inspection - don't you trust the contractor? 

As compliance consultants, we have been contracted by your housing provider to provide oversight of contractor works. This means we may carry out inspections to ensure that work has been carried out to the correct standard and is legally compliant.

How long do the inspections take? 

This really depends on the type of inspection. During the booking, our team member will advise an estimated time required.

Will I have to empty out my cupboard again? Move furniture? 

If we are carrying out a boiler safety check then yes, please ensure that the area around your boiler and your meter is cleared to allow our inspector access. For other inspection types, when booking our team member will advise what our inspector needs to see.

Will my Gas/Electric supply be switched off during the inspection? 

The inspector will not need to turn the gas off, but if we are carrying out an electrical inspection then we will need to turn off the electric.

Will the inspector be able to fix my hot water, light switch, etc. while he is doing the safety inspection? 

No - the inspector is not able to carry out any work but a full report of his visit and findings will be sent to the Housing Association/Local Authority that we are working with.

Can you send me a letter to confirm the appointment? 

We are unable to write to you, however, you will receive a confirmation text and reminder text prior to the appointment. If you would like further confirmation, we can send you a confirmation email at the point of booking. 

Who can I speak to in order to confirm the appointment and why haven’t I received a letter?

Can I leave my teenage son/daughter to let the inspector in as I will be at work? 

The inspector cannot enter the premises unless accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.

Can I leave my door unlocked so the inspector can let himself in?

How will I know that the inspector is from Clear Safety? 

All of our inspectors wear an ID badge. If it is not on display, please ask them to show you.

Who do I speak with to confirm why you are visiting me?
